For too long the house walls have been barren. Not enough color, not enough personality. That changes now.
I’ve decided to start with the guest room probably because outside of the 3rd bedroom, I go into that room the least. It provides a nice testbed of sorts to try my hand at decorating. Having finished the “wall” project that you can see in a previous post, It turned out well, but that hardly finishes out the room. I’ve ordered some curtains, bed side tables, lamps and a TV/TV Stand to complete things. The idea being the room will become yet another escape in this house, a way for me to change up my routine sometimes and just hide out in there. It also helps that Jack really likes that room because he can lay on the bed and look out the window.
I think the entryway will be the next to get tackled, I have plans to replace the ugly builder grade chandeliers at some point but I need to find 3 of them, yes 3 of them that I like before I can do that. In the interim, I’ve bought a console table, mirror and lamp to give it a quasi finished out look. I may end up painting a wall or two as well, but the entryway is very tall and open so fuck the idea of getting on a huge ladder to paint. No Thank You.
The Dining Room/Gym will get tackled after that, though to be fair the feature wall project may get done in tandem since I still have a lot of MDF left over from the last project. I want to make that wall a little more “patterned” and less abstract like the wall in the guest room. Which kind of sucks considering I will have to be quite a bit more deliberate with my placement and measuring and cuts. Oh well, I can handle it. The question of what color to paint it remains. I won’t use the blue I used in the Guest Room, and I had thought about Red but I think it will end up being some shade of Grey, maybe a light black. We will see.
From there I’ll probably tackle what’s left of the living room and kitchen. I’d like to change out the backsplash in the kitchen as I will get the floors replaced sooner rather than later. But that may get put on hold.
Curtains and some wainscoting in the Master Bedroom is really all that needs to be done there, so I can stop getting woken up at 7am from the sunlight coming in.
Then, I think the Laundry room could use some color, maybe another shelf or cabinet to help sort it out, It is overall so much cleaner in there so it really opens up the room to whatever possibilities I can think of to give it a finished out look.
Upstairs is a different beast, I am going to leave the 3rd bedroom for last, because reasons and I honestly don’t even have a clue as to what to do with that room. Maybe a ping pong room, meditation room? I don’t know, time will tell.
I’m sure I will inundate this blog with updates as I finish out rooms/projects but It would be nice to have most of this done by the time Christmas rolls around.
Anyway, back to planning.
Peace, love and large amounts of grace.
