5 years ago today I closed on my house. It was a proud and happy day. It was the start of something bigger than just myself. Five years later, some things have changed, some things are the same, and some things are lost in the ether and it’s unknown if they will ever be seen again. But it’s my home, I have roots here, and I’m not planning on leaving it anytime soon.
It is a modest home, but it is my home. It pretty much stays 68° year round in my home. There are plenty of blankets for those that can’t handle that but it’s the temp I’m most comfortable at, so that’s what it stays at. It has a second story, a big closet and a white sink among other things. It has an incredibly big shower that is honestly my favorite part of the house. It has enough space for a family, but for years we managed to fill it up with 2 people and a dog. It has character but not in the typical sense, it has character because of its occupants, because of the stories the things it is filled with tell, the people that have visited imprinted upon it. But above all the love, happiness, and laughter that has been created there.
So here’s to 5 more years at 1013, maybe 50, only time will tell.
(Oh and if you haven’t been over in a while for whatever reason, come see the house, or don’t, I’m not your boss)
